One of the most hyped up movie and the only Marvel movie releasing this year has arrived in cinemas globally.
I have always been a fan of Hugh Jackman’s performance as the Wolverine and consider it to be among one of the most iconic performances in Hollywood, in the same league as Johhny Depp as Jack Sparrow and seeing him not only return as Wolverine after 7 years but also wearing the iconic yellow costume from the comics was amazing and fan service done right while staying respectful to the character and his origin.
As you would expect from a deadpool movie the movie has tons of jokes and references to other Marvel works, more than the previous deadpool films since this movie now takes place in Marvel Cinematic Universe.
the comedy is hit or miss, this is a movie where jokes thrown at the audience every second so its inevitable that some of them are bad, it is also the least problematic part of the movie however same can’t be said about the direction or Plot.
Director Shawn Levi makes his debut in the MCU as both The director and a writer after having worked with Ryan Reynolds in other projects in past.
the visual quality of the movie is subpar with many unpolished scenes from bad CGI to bad color grading and scenes shot poorly, overall a very messed up direction.
If the visuals were better then they could have elevated the plot but unfortunately visually this movie is a downgrade from the first two.
Hugh Jackman gave the best performance in this movie as expected and seemed to seamlessly go back to being Wolverine after half a decade.
scenes focusing on Wolverine were the best part of the movie and had the most emotional depth.
the movie was at its best when the plot was moving forward however the plot was pushed back for a good chunk of the movie for nostalgic cameos.
Despite all of this the movie is still very enjoyable
Deadpool and Wolverine shares many of the critiques with Marvel movies nowadays so I don’t think its a comeback for Marvel however if you want to have a good time and don’t care about complex plot and well written story then you will surely have a good time with this movie.
