As The Umbrella Academy comes to a close, so does our journey with its phenomenal characters. Unfortunately, the final season doesn’t do justice to the depth and development we’ve come to love. The series ends on a bittersweet note, with a conclusion that, while intriguing in concept, falls short in execution.
The characters, who were once rich with trauma and growth, seem to lose their distinct personalities in this last chapter. Their relationships shift dramatically, and it becomes difficult to keep track of the plot. Half the season feels like a confusing blur, and by the time you start to piece together what happened between seasons 3 and 4, you’re thrown into new storylines that only add to the confusion.
The final season is cluttered with unnecessary drama, unrequited love triangles, and plot arcs that lead nowhere. It’s a disappointing end to a series that had the potential to be Netflix’s answer to The Boys or Invincible. Instead, it almost feels like Netflix wanted to wrap things up in a way that ensures fans won’t be asking for more seasons.
