Both series are scheduled to start airing in October and will stream on Netflix. This follows a troubling trend, as the Mononoke: Karakasa movie also faced a leak.
Netflix at the Center of the Leak
It appears that Netflix might be the common link in these incidents. The Mononoke: Karakasa movie, which premiered in Japan on July 26, was leaked before its English dub release under the title Phantom in the Rain. According to the SAG-AFTRA Signatory Confirmation Database, this dubbed version is set to stream on Netflix.
Re:Zero Season 3 Leak Rumors
Rumors are circulating about a potential leak of the Re:Zero Season 3 premiere, which streams on Netflix in Japan. Although these reports remain unconfirmed, the 90-minute premiere was screened at Anime Expo in Los Angeles this July. Despite strict no-photography rules, images from the screening have surfaced online.
DAN DA DAN Premiere Leak
The first episode of Science SARU’s DAN DA DAN premiered at this year’s Anime Expo, with the English dub version set to debut at Anime NYC in August. The anime will also have a theatrical run featuring the first three episodes. However, the leaked version of the premiere is in Japanese, without subtitles, and includes timestamps. It reportedly originated from an unknown Telegram channel, and the opening by Creepy Nuts has been widely shared on social media.
Update (August 7): At least six episodes of DAN DA DAN are now available online.
Ranma ½ Remake Leak
The Ranma ½ remake by studio MAPPA will have its world premiere at Anime NYC. The remake, announced earlier this year, released its first trailer on July 17. Currently, the first and third episodes have been leaked online. Like the DAN DA DAN leak, these episodes are of low quality and include timestamps.
Mononoke Franchise Updates
The Mononoke franchise recently revealed that The Phantom in the Rain will be the first of three movies. The sequel, Mononoke Second Chapter: Hinezumi, is set to debut in Japan on March 14, 2025. The title and release date for the third movie are yet to be confirmed.
